摘要 | In this experiment, a low-temperature (< 100 degrees C) KOH/urea (KU) pretreatment of rice straw (RS) was performed to enhance its bioconversion to ethanol. The pretreatment factors were optimized by Box-Behnken Design of response surface method (RSM), resulting in an optimum KU concentration of 3%, with a solid to liquid ratio of 1:15 for 3 hat 70 degrees C. Under the above conditions, five-times higher sugar yields (92.38 %) and six-times higher ethanol production (87.13 %) compared with the control experiment were obtained. The cell wall composition and crystallinity index (CrI) of RS changed significantly after KU pretreatment, with cellulose amounts raised, while the CrI increased and the amounts of hemicellulose and lignin decreased. Additionally, the pretreatment liquor is high in potassium and nitrogen contents, which may be used as a fertilizer for plant cultivation to achieve a zero-emission biorefinery process. |
